Eagle Cap Backpack, August, 2017

When Will Skelton asked if I was interested in doing a backpack in the Eagle Cap Wilderness of northeast Oregon, I jumped at the chance. First, because I haven't had an opportunity to hike there since 1975, and remembered Eagle Cap as an outstanding area (It is!). Second, because it would be a chance to backpack with Will, and also with Barbara Allen, and we just don't get that many chances to do so anymore! Unfortuantely Sue had commitments and couldn't go, but the last week of August, I joined the crew from Tennessee for a six night, seven day backpack through the Lakes Basin and near Glacier Peak and Eagle Cap itself. The lakes are still sublime, the mountains impressive, and the wildflowers were great. So other than I had a cold during the trip, it was another terrific backack in one of Eastern Oregon's prettiest mountain ranges.
