Hiking Geode Hill

We led an Outdoor Club hike to Geode Hill in mid-September. It had snowed in the mountains a week before, quite early, but we figured it would mostly be gone. And it was. However, we did find lots of tree damage due to the snow and high winds. Still, always a beautiful hike. Great views, and a touch of fall.

The recent snow storm and wind did a job on quite a few of the aspen in the area. The lower part of the trail was covered with branches and uprooted trees.

A stop at the twisty aspen grove is a must. Just a few years ago, there was room to pose with your head throgh the donut!

Arborglyphs, this one dating from 1931, are fairly common along the trail.
