Palmetto State Park Hike
Palmetto State Park is unique in Central Texas for the abundance of it's namesake Dwarf Palmetto (Sabal minor) normally found closer to the Gulf Coast. These grow in the ephemeral Ottine swamp, which results from the intersection of the San Marcos River and the Carrizo Aquifer. With a recent expansion in the trail system, Palmetto made a good destination for a Thanksgiving Day hike.
