A beautiful day in the mountains; the aspen near the V Mountain trailhead are showing gold.
Still kind of chilly as Brooks gets us organized.
Nice color on the forest floor, as well as in the trees.
Gold and blue. It's a great fall day in Colorado!
Sue is checking out this crevice near V Rock.
Photo and snack stop at the top of V Rock.
Always one in the crowd: Jeff on V Rock. By the way, it's about 500 feet down.
Nice spot for a bite to eat.
Archery season is over, but Jeff found an arrow!
Square Top looms above the aspen cloaked ridges.
Aspen wrap the area around V Mountain
On to "Geode Hill", lunch and a scenery break. Brooks looks comfortable!
Time to explore off trail routes.
Some of the more orange-tinted aspen
We followed these meadows along the ridge until we found an easy way off.
Jeff and Joan wantering through the aspen
Here's looking at you, kid!
Following game trails down the slopes
On the steeper pitches, it's a good time to hug your local aspen!
We took lots of time to dawdle in the meadows, surrounded by glorious, golden aspen
Note that some clusters of aspen are still completely green.
More dawdling. There might be a few bear hunters out, so bright colors aren't a bad idea.
Close to the end, a fond look back at the route we've come.
