Square Top South Ridge, August 7, 2012
An all offtrail hike up the southridge of Squaretop Mountain, a peak with a classic profile just east of Pagosa Springs. Sue was out of town this week, but I wasn’t about to miss this Outdoor Club hike. The hike was about 8.6 mi round trip, with nearly 3200 ft elevation gain and loss.

At this point, the east flank of the ridgeis heavily eroded volcanic rock; leaving numerous spires or "hoodoos", and precipitous drops.
