Crater Lake Hike

Sue and I did a late July hike with our Outdoor Club to Crater Lake, near Summitville, CO. It's a long, bumpy drive to get to the trailhead, which may be part of the reason I had never done this hike. Sue had done it previously, but for whatever reason, I had missed it (quite an oversight). It's a great hike along a wildflower-studded trail, beginning at 11,600 ft, crossing the Continental Divide at about 12,200, then descending 1800 ft to lovely Crater Lake. Its a bit of a slog to regain that elevation, but lots of wildflowers and views to offer a rewarding distraction. Total distance, 7.8 miles.
